From same batch of images in previous blog, also seems to be referring to "lack of food".

Can you see Nasa's fine vertical pin? Notice how it seems to line up with
important parts of the sculpture!

Also, I see over and over again the "wheel" of Curiosity selecting the lower right position for it's "wheel", as if to indicate that it is a favorite sculpture of theirs. It seems often when the wheel is placed like that, that the sculptures seems to pop out more, with more meaning and intrigue!

Important: Please, please notice the "Caliper" in the main image, and how it is repeated in another image, (the Startling 2) image!

This will help, I think in understanding what the meaning is about in this mascara image!

The analysis I use for the photos and imagery are not mean't to be exacting, only to get you closer to understanding that there is intelligent life on mars (martians).
Many of the rocks you may think are rocks, are in fact highly designed sculptures, mechanical objects etc.

Nasa is trying to leak out anomalous imagery with out of course talking about it public! Though most images have been doctored, Nasa is trying to humbly and quietly nudge us along with out going too public about it vocally. Though it is work and painstaking effort to find objects in the images that have not been altered in some way!
