The European Space Agency (ESA) is sending Algae Into Space ! ![]() ESA - The European Space Agency is in fact sent alga "Chlamydomonas reinhardil" placing them in airtight photo cells and launched in a Russian made Soyuz space capsule and it was done in Kazakhstan ! The scientists' goal is to engineer components of photosynthetic machinery to increase efficiency and stability so they can grow in space when needed. And of course on earth in unusual environments! The scientists are focusing on the D1 protein from the alga which is paramount in growing it in outer space.
